“About Joan” will be released Wednesday, September 14 at the cinema. It tells the story of an independent woman, played by Isabelle Huppert, who revisits the main lines of her life. The actress is on all fronts in this new school year, since she also performs at the theater.
Enthusiastic, tireless and mysterious: Isabelle Huppert never stops filming. In her latest film, she plays Joan, who recounts what counted in her life: a man she loved and her son, who constantly appears and disappears. But sometimes, memory plays tricks, and memories get involved. “It’s not a linear narrative at all. We take it in the present, and then there’s a lot of flashback”says the actress.
On August 25, at the Angoulême film festival (Charente), she lent herself to the game of selfies with her loyal audience. “She’s not only a great actress, but she’s also someone who knows how to talk about theater extraordinarily”says a woman. Isabelle Huppert is also going on tour at the start of the school year, with The Cherry Orchard by Chekhov. Finally, at the Venice Film Festival recently, she presented The trade unionist, a film slated for release in March. Where does she get such energy from? “It’s simply the pleasure that remains intact”, she replies. The actress already has more than 100 films to her credit, but she’s definitely already thinking about the next one.
