Tickets for line 747 available online starting Wednesday

Starting Wednesday, users of the 747 bus, which shuttles between Montreal-Trudeau airport and downtown Montreal, will be able to obtain transportation tickets through mobile applications.

This is a first for the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) since, until now, it was not possible to purchase transportation tickets online.

With this measure, the STM and the Regional Metropolitan Transport Authority (ARTM) hope to facilitate access to this busy bus line and reduce the long queues of travelers wishing to obtain tickets or board the bus. ‘bus.

Using the Chrono and Transit applications, users will be able to obtain one or more “YUL Aéroport Mtl-Trudeau” digital tickets with a credit card. Before getting on board, the user will only have to activate their ticket and show it to the driver. The pass given to him by the driver will be valid for all modes of transport in zone A (conurbation of Montreal) for a period of 24 hours, specify the two organizations in a press release.

Since the end of the pandemic, the increase in traffic at the airport has required the implementation of various measures to facilitate access to the very popular 747 bus line. Among other things, two mobile sales terminals were made available to travelers and departures were added depending on traffic.

The STM and ARTM promise to implement other new features in the coming months. Starting in 2024, it will be possible to purchase tickets on the Opus card from a smartphone.

Over the years, the technological limitations of the Opus card have been repeatedly criticized given the impossibility of purchasing titles online. In 2015, the STM was the target of much mockery when it unveiled the new reader allowing you to recharge the Opus card yourself, but which had to be purchased for $14.50.
