Three people were found dead Friday morning in an apartment building in the borough of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie. A suspect was arrested at the scene, said the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), which is continuing its investigation.
The bodies of the three individuals found dead on Friday, after a call made to 911 around 9:20 a.m., showed “marks of violence”, possibly committed with a “sharp object”, indicates the public relations officer of the SPVM, Julien Lévesque. These deaths, deemed “suspicious”, occurred in a building located on rue Bélanger, in the borough of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie.
A suspect was arrested on the spot in the morning and will be met today by police investigators. The SPVM is currently analyzing the crime scene, which is protected by peace officers. A security perimeter was erected and traffic was blocked on a portion of Bélanger Street, between Viau Street and 40th Avenue, the section in front of the Montreal Heart Institute.
The police force is currently trying to clarify the circumstances of this tragedy. However, the reactions were quick to burst out on Friday, a few minutes after the SPVM announced that it was investigating these three murders.
“I have a thought for the three people who died in horrible circumstances in Rosemont. My condolences to their loved ones, ”wrote the mayor of Montreal, Valérie Plante, on Twitter.
