Three fires broke out in Haute-Corse this Saturday, February 26. In the afternoon, none of the three lights were extinguished, and 38 hectares vegetation was destroyed.
Speloncato, Prunelli-di-Fiumorbo and Loreto-di-Casinca
Firefighters were first called to the town of Speloncato, around 11 a.m. for a maquis fire, which has so far destroyed 15 hectares of maquis. Still in the morning, another call rang out, this time from Prunelli-di-Fiumorbo where 8 hectares burned this Saturday afternoon. The last fire broke out below the village of Loreto-di-Casinca in the early afternoon. It has so far destroyed 15 hectares of vegetation but does not threaten homes.
In total, firefighters mobilized 11 trucks and three water carriers to control these fires. We still do not know the causes of these fires, which can be multiple. It is moreover to avoid fires that the prefectures of Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud prohibited the use of fireuntil Monday February 28 in Haute-Corse, and until Sunday February 27 in Corse-du-Sud.
