Since the release, in 2020, of his two previous solo albums, Kieran Hebden (Four Tet) has emancipated himself on the dance floor while releasing his most exciting compositions under other stage names (including KH — listen again Looking at Your Pager !), as if he himself needed to look elsewhere and experiment in order to better renew himself. Paradoxically, Three contains the sonic ingredients of the Four Tet recipe – these arpeggio melodies, the kora or harp notes, the dry percussion – but by preparing them with slower tempos which refer to the instrumental hip-hop of his beginnings, the composer finds a narrative force absent from his last albums. In short, sounds already heard from Hebden, but captivating, hypnotic sounds, orchestrated with intelligence, from the first to the eighth track. Daydream Repeat And 31 Bloom will satisfy fans with its jerky house touch, the rest can be enjoyed horizontally, headphones on the head. Three Drums In conclusion, it’s ecstasy!
