Thousands of people have been evacuated from several areas of California due to wildfires sparked by a heat wave.
Helicopters fly over the area in dangerous conditions. Visibility in the air is extremely low. The fires are fanned by high winds in California. The flames cross the roads and come dangerously close to homes. 13,000 people have already been ordered to evacuate, some in panic. The most dangerous fire is in Oroville, leaving behind the blackened carcasses of cars, houses and charred furniture. The fire is evolving in steep canyons difficult for firefighters to access, forced to advance along the side of cliffs.
Residents who have not yet been evacuated have their eyes fixed on their homes. Some have installed automatic watering systems on their roofs to guard against the possible arrival of the fire. Firefighters are expecting several more very difficult days with record temperatures of up to 47 degrees in several Californian locations.
