More and more Toulouse residents are using self-service scooters and pushing the door of electric car dealerships. Fuel shortages and rising fuel prices are causing them to change their behavior.
The rental of electric scooters is a hit
The design of electric scooters Yego pleases, its low price too. Users of this small light green two-wheeler recently arrived in the pink city make an average journey of 4 kilometers for an average bill of between €3.30 and €3.40. Since the fuel shortage, the manager of the Toulouse agency, Kévin Bournat has seen the number of trips skyrocket:
The number of rentals has increased sharply. Previously our one day records were 1700, last week we topped 1900 and on Friday October 14th we almost reached 2000 rentals
The 100% electric rental company installed in Toulouse since the end of June has a fleet of 270 scooters and has the wind in its sails:
The fuel shortage worked in our favour, as did the metro breakdown and it’s nice to be able to offer this alternative to Toulouse residents.
More and more buyers are leaving with an electric car
Does the fuel shortage also benefit electric cars? At the seller Sérés (Chinese electric car brand), route de Labège in Toulouse, it is obvious. The interest in all-electric vehicles began with the rise in fuel prices. In one year the coordinator of the Sérés network Jean-François Comte in Toulouse has seen his customers multiply by 10 :
People have been made aware of the rise in fuel prices since the beginning of the year and we have also had a few more visits since the shortage. Last year, the first year, we made 80 sales, and since the beginning of the year we’ve made 10 times more.
The seller cites the call of recent potential buyers as an example:
These customers told me that they put in 200 euros of fuel this week to go to work, they want to see things differently, they want an electric vehicle, especially since their employer offers them recharging at work.
A second Chinese brand, Leap Motor will soon offer vehicles for sale at theElectric Vehicles Area,
place presented as the largest showroom in France dedicated to electric vehicles.
