Former boss of the France 2 political service, Nathalie Saint-Cricq was invited to the LCP set on November 20, 2023. She discussed her job as a political interviewer in the presence of the former Minister of Culture, Roselyne Bachelot. And while Benjamin Duhamel’s mother pointed out the difficulties of the format, she had a little word for Jean-Jacques Bourdin, whose sharp style is recognizable among thousands.
“They want to trip up politicians“
About this journalist, who was removed from the airwaves of BFMTV And RMC in 2023, following complaints of sexual assault, Nathalie Saint-Cricq was critical. She explained about this one but we also think of her colleague Elise Lucet, also pugnacious: “They want to trip up politicians. I believe that when you are a journalist, you are not there to trip people up. We are here to ask questions. It is obvious that they are not omniscient.”
And to add, clearly naming the one who now operates on Sud Radio: “It was a bit of the Bourdin method, if you like.” The 61-year-old journalist, who moderated the debate between the two rounds in 2017 with Christophe Jakubyszyn, clarified: “It’s not a sign of independence, it’s not a guarantee of quality to try to pay yourself [les personnalités politiques]”.
That day when he mistreated a minister
No one has in fact forgotten the interview with Myriam El Khomri, former Minister of Labor, in 2015, who was humiliated live by a question from Jean-Jacques Bourdin. The latter then asked him: “Besides, how many times can we renew the fixed-term contract?” And she responded hesitantly: “Three times… It can be renewed several times”. Faced with the journalist’s insistence, the stressed politician then said: “I couldn’t tell you.”. And Jean-Jacques Bourdin delivered the final blow: “Since August, a fixed-term contract can be renewed twice, this is a measure taken by your government.”
