this great shipwreck live on France 2… Be careful, TV discomfort!

France 2’s New Year’s Eve was a hit! Organized live from Paris for the first time, orchestrated by Laurent Luyat, Stéphane Bern and ex-Miss France Laury Thillemanthe show attracted more than a million Parisians, and more than 4.2 million viewers and 30.4% of the public. The public service beat TF1 and its Bloopers from 31 co-hosted by Karine Ferri and Christophe Beaugrand, which only attracted 2.4 million viewers. A considerable gap, but which was nevertheless qualified by the scores on targets, TF1 remaining largely the leader in housewives, with 29% of FRdA-50 compared to 21% for France 2.

During this special evening, in which Anne Hidalgo participated, Laury Thilleman and Laurent Luyat wanted to improvise as Sunday ambiancers… but totally wallowed! The hosts invited the million Parisians in front of them to a giant ola, in the hope of creating the largest ola ever organized in the world, and thus entering the Guinness Book of Records. Yes but… there is a catch! Obviously, a big sound problem prevented Parisians from hearing the invitation from the animators, which fell through !

“There were 4 people who raised their hands!”

As a result, Laury Thilleman and Laurent Luyat were confronted with a big flop that greatly amused the Internet, to the delight of several viewers, many of whom mocked them on X… “58 seconds of pure failure. With the largest ola in the world… over twelve meters. Thank you Paris. Thank you France 2” mocked journalist Julien Pernici, supported by dozens of other mockers: “Literally, everyone is having fun, it’s hilarious”, “With this duo of presenters, failure was assured”, “At the same time, doing an ola while standing…”, “I’ve seen some crap projects, but congratulations to the attempt at the biggest ola in the world last night on France 2. A magnificent result”, “There were literally four people who raised their hands, it’s simply exceptional. Oops, a nice TV malaise to start the year 2024 in style!
