they denounce an authoritarian direction and the lack of means at the Pierre Oudot hospital

They denounce the lack of means for the hospital and complicated relationships with their leadership. About thirty people gathered this morning on the forecourt of the Pierre Oudot hospital center of Bourgoin-Jallieu in response to a new strike call by the Force Ouvrière union, the second in 3 weeks. The unions refer to insufficient progress on the management side and want to continue the movement.

Initially, the demands came from the PC Fire Safety. The agents denounce the fact of having to carry out tasks which are not part of their duties, for example they intervened in the face of patient assaults. Other professionals and carers have joined them because the claims concern all of the activity of the Berjalliens hospital.

If the caregivers are not in good shape, are not able to receive their patients, the circle is dramatically closed.

Among them, representatives of the child psychiatry center. For lack of means, they cannot no longer taking new patients since weeks. “The needs only continue to grow and currently, we find ourselves unable to respond” explains this caregiver has agreed to testify anonymously because he can’t take it anymore. “We are at an impasse which also has consequences for us caregivers” and in particular on their state of health “which is starting to become more and more precarious.”

“If the caregivers are not in good shape, are not able to receive their patients, the circle is dramatically closed” he continues. “To receive people who are going through a vulnerable event in good conditions, you have to not be vulnerable yourself. Unfortunately, that’s a little bit what we’re getting into, in a very, very way. strong.”

“Abuse of authority” according to the unions

FO also denounces this lack of human resources which affects all French hospitals, but also in Bourgoin-Jallieu a authoritarianism felt by employees, “surveillance, not feeling free to express disagreement or question different choices. What can sometimes be qualified as abuse of authority” explains Claire Aston, union representative, “the agents are told that they must execute even if sometimes they may have interesting solutions to offer.”

A situation that may come from the health crisis believes management

For the director of the CHPO Laurence Bernard, “the formula is inappropriate.” She assures that the union did not “never transmitted elements on this kind of situation” and that she doesn’t have “never received any complaints.” However, the situation is such that it rubs off on working conditions points out another FO delegate, Carole Verdier. “When we don’t consult the professionals in the field, when we make decisions without asking their opinion, without knowing what is really going on… inevitably, working conditions suffer.”

Laurence Bernard for his part advances the fact that this feeling can come from the white plane triggered to fight the coronavirus. It was necessary to take “quick decisions because we had no choice” and according to her “it can be equated with authority.” In any case, she assures us that she understands the anger and fatigue faced with the lack of means.

Even if few people participated in the mobilization, FO wants to show that the union is present alongside the hospital workers.
