It is in the 18-24 age group that we find more and more gym addicts. They often benefit from reduced rates and are very diligent.

Since the end of the confinements, the sports halls have seen the arrival of more and more young people and adolescents. Some come up to five times a week, like Lucas Toulze, 17, who wants “repel [ses] boundaries”. “It allows you to regain a little self-confidence, to form a new body, even at the level of the mind, it always feels good”says the teenager.

“It has almost become a drug”

This abs cult is a quest for teens, encouraged by social networks, with the risk of getting addicted. “It’s almost become a drug, at this rate. It’s not a drug that hurts me, so for now, I’m managing well, I keep coming”admits Daphne Pauchet-Deloffre, 25 years old. But for doctors, this excessive dependence on sport can threaten the health of the youngest. “There is a risk of slowing down his muscle growth, of causing, because of the tendons which harden at the bone level, a slowdown in growth with pain afterwards.“, explains the Dr Dan Véléa, addictologist.
