A new study tells us that by following certain good habits, you can gain 24 years of life when you are in your forties. Damien Mascret, doctor and journalist from France Télévisions, details these lifestyle habits on the set of 13 Heures, Friday March 15.

Present on the 13 Heures set, Friday March 15, doctor and France Télévisions journalist Damien Mascret discusses a new study which tells us that by respecting eight lifestyle habits, we can live longer. “We can gain 24 years of life” when you are in your forties by following these good habits, specifies Damien Mascret.

Don’t neglect your sleep

The first good habit is to exercise. “We halve our risk of dying compared to someone of the same age when we exercise after 40”, explains the doctor. Another good habit is not to smoke, he adds. Other good advice given by Damien Mascret: reduce stress, eat well and avoid alcohol. Furthermore, you should not neglect your sleep. “A recent survey showed that the French sleep on average 6 hours 58 minutes per night, [et] 40 minutes more on weekends. It is insufficient. You have to sleep seven to eight hours.”indicates the doctor.
