The prestigious Michelin Guidewhich lists the best restaurants around the world, will offer a Quebec edition from 2025.
The French company made the announcement on Thursday, in conjunction with the Quebec Tourism Industry Alliance.
The province becomes the third Canadian destination to obtain this privilege, after Toronto and Vancouver, in 2022. Rather than being confined to a single city, the Quebec edition will cover the entire province.
“The Quebec culinary scene is as rich as it is varied, with international influences, but also farm-to-table dishes that showcase regional products. The province is home to great chefs as well as future talents who imagine new culinary experiences for their guests by combining tradition and avant-garde techniques,” Michelin said in a press release.
The guide will be launched in spring 2025, but Michelin says its inspectors are already on the ground handing out their famous stars, which number 1, 2 or 3. The guide also awards Bib Gourmands, which reward quality cuisine at affordable prices, as well as green stars, for establishments promoting sustainable gastronomy.
