Théo Curin amputated arms and legs: why he “suffered a lot” on the set of Beijing Express…

After months of waiting, it’s finally time to launch the special celebrity edition of Beijing Express tour at the start of the year. This Wednesday July 6, 2022, the adventure begins on M6 and viewers will be able to begin to follow the routes of the six competing pairs, who flew to Sri Lanka for a fortnight. In the casting, we will find Valérie Trierweiler and her best friend, Rachel Legrain-Trapani and her darling Valentin Léonard, Inès Reg and her big sister, Justriadh with a friend, Yoann Riou and Xavier Domergue as well as Théo Curin with his manager Anne Bayard.

The 22-year-old paralympic swimmer challenged himself to participate in the game despite his disability, he who was amputation of four limbs when he was a child. Always ready to surpass himself, Théo Curin was not afraid of the difficulties of the adventure. He still feared one thing: the pain caused by his prostheses. “I suffer a lot from the heat. During the adventure, I suffered a lot of injuries to my legs. The perspiration and sleeves in my sockets created friction. After a few days I had blisters.“, he confided during an interview for Gala.

Fortunately, the athlete got a special follow-up from the show’s medical team. “TEvery evening, the doctor came to put bandages on me“, he revealed. And to add with gratitude: “The production was top notch. It was my only little scare, but in the end, it went pretty well throughout the adventure.

As a reminder, Théo Curin had his arms and legs amputated at the age of 6. At the time, he contracted severe bacterial meningitis which caused necrosis. For two years, he followed intensive rehabilitation sessions to learn to live with his disability and his prostheses. After a decisive meeting with Philippe Croizon – he swam across the Channel without arms or legs – the one who gave the reply to Alessandra Sublet in Handigang turned to swimming and proved that nothing could stop him.
