More than five months after the murder of Chahinez Daoud, a 31-year-old woman burned alive by her husband in the middle of the street in Mérignac (Gironde), the zonal director of public security (DZSP) of the South-West will receive a reprimand and seven other police officers are summoned to a disciplinary council in the coming weeks, franceinfo learned from a source close to the case. These decisions were taken by the Director General of the National Police, Frédéric Veaux

The seven police officers summoned are all involved, at different levels, in the errors of assessment which led to the death of the mother of the family. Indeed, Chahinez Daoud had filed a complaint against her husband for violence a month and a half before being killed in March. Her partner had previously been sentenced to prison for domestic violence.

These are two commissioners, including the departmental director of public security in Gironde, two commanders, a major, a chief brigadier and the peacekeeper who received the victim’s complaint in March. and who was himself convicted of domestic violence in February.

With these various disciplinary decisions, the DGPN was more severe than the recommendations of the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) which had only proposed direct sanctions against the seven police officers and cleared the DZSP. The convocations in disciplinary council are more severe because this council can take broader sanctions, going from the simple warning to the total dismissal.

This will be the second disciplinary council of the peacekeeper who received the complaint. He has indeed already passed a disciplinary council at the beginning of September, concerning his conviction for domestic violence. The council proposed a sanction of one year of temporary exclusion from office and one year of suspended suspension. The DGPN has yet to confirm this sanction.
