These are the biggest days of the year at the La Poste distribution platform in Saint-Florentin in the Yonne. Between 800 and 1,000 packages arrive every day from the Monéteau hub. “The truck arrives in the morning at 6:50 am, it delivers CP 660, large cages with parcels inside, explains site manager Sabrina Chemolle. We unload the truck and then after, we will sort all the mail, the packages. “
21 postmen are taking turns at the moment to distribute them in about twenty municipalities around Saint-Florentin. Three temporary workers have been hired. “These are very busy days, but we get there, assures Fabienne Deschamps, there is a little fatigue but afterwards, at the end of the day, we are still happy to have distributed all our parcels, then to say that everyone, both young and old, will have their gifts under the Christmas tree.”
Christmas is a very important time for the Post. “With the decrease in mail traffic, significant investments are being made in the package,” says Phillippe Blot, school principal. And so that yours is received on time to be under the Christmas tree, do not be too long : “not after Tuesday!”
