40 kilometers from Paris, the town of Corbeil-Essonnes (Essonne) appears divided, Thursday June 20. In the European elections, 24% of voters voted for the National Rally and 33% for La France Insoumise. For 82 years, a retiree has lived in the city center of Corbeil-Essonne. Until now, she had always voted for the left. This time, she chose to slip an RN ballot into the ballot box. “They will restore order”she assures.

Between residential areas and working-class neighborhoods, there is a clear divide in the polls. In the city of Tarterêts, in Corbeil-Essonne, many residents voted for La France Insoumise, sometimes for the first time. However, in the commune the first party remains abstention. 63% of voters did not vote. Among them, many are young people from working-class neighborhoods.
