After making sure she could find a round-trip flight to Tampa, Florida, where she currently lives, she sped to the airport with just a small carry-on suitcase. “I didn’t think more than that,” she told QMI Agency. We do to others what we would like to be done. If I had problems, I would like my friends to be able to replace me at a moment’s notice. Marjo is sick, I’m going, I don’t ask myself any questions, we’ll see once there. I arrived with my toothbrush and a mini suitcase, but the whole “La Voix” team took good care of me.”

The concept of “La Voix” is no stranger to France D’Amour, who was a mentor for Marc Dupré’s team in 2014. “I was especially comfortable because I know the other coaches very well. . It is an important element. I felt accepted and I was confident to be by Marc’s side [Dupré]Mario [Pelchat] and Cornelius. Besides, I’ve been in constant contact with Marjo since Friday night. She encouraged me a lot. The production sent me all the information, I was able to read the biographies of all the candidates. I was able to prepare well before rehearsals on Saturday.

As she was preparing to leave immediately after the end of the show, Sunday evening, she confided that she lived for a while in Marjo’s chair. “It’s very different from what you see on TV and when you’re on set, the emotion is more direct. The common point of the three candidates of Marjo’s team is that they had a strength and a fragility at the same time. They had it both ways, it was very interesting. In rehearsal, this is also one of the advice I gave them: “go to extremes, one way or the other”. It was beautiful and inspiring.”

A 14th album this fall

If France D’Amour is currently in Florida, it is because she is working on her 14th album, which will be called “14”.

“For my records, I have always made the music before the texts. But this time, the text is the basis of the songs, and then I add the music. I tried to go more intimate, to be more real and more authentic, and the music also follows this direction.

She wrote about forty texts, but she will keep only 10 for the album. “After the last years that we have just lived, I needed to give, to express something more luminous. I want to be positive, to emphasize the beautiful. If we have to row, we will row together.”

After Florida, the singer will return to finish her album in Brossard and Mascouche, before a release scheduled for this fall.
