Every summer since 1990, the UNFP, the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 professional players’ union, has organized a training camp with staff and players who do not have a contract. “What was originally intended to be a one-off initiative 33 years ago has become an institution“, indicates the journalist Samuel Ollivier, present on the set of 8 Hours, Tuesday, June 27. The course began on Monday June 26 in Lisses (Essonne).
“A Six-Week Gathering”
“The UNFP trainees begin a six-week gathering, with this preparation with an expanded staff, where we find 12 people including the former coach of Nîmes (Gard), Jérôme Arpinon, but also a medical staff“, says the journalist. By participating in this course, the players come to seek “perfect working conditions“. “This course allows the 25 players to meet physically, and to be ready immediately if a club calls on them.“, continues Samuel Ollivier.
