“The two people brought before the court on Monday as part of the opening of a judicial investigation” after the fatal fire in Nice “were indicted”announced the public prosecutor in a press release on Tuesday July 23. “The person arrested last Thursday in the Alpes-Maritimes has been placed in provisional detention”adds the same source, just like “the person arrested last Sunday in Seine-Saint-Denis”.
In detail, the two men, aged 25 and 21, are being charged with “destruction of the property of others by means dangerous to persons resulting in death”, “organised destruction of the property of others by means dangerous to persons and resulting in incapacity for more than eight days”, “participation in a criminal association with a view to preparing a crime” and “participation in a criminal association with a view to preparing an offence punishable by 10 years’ imprisonment”.
Investigators are still looking for three fugitives aged 17 to 23. They have been identified and located in the Alpes-Maritimes and Île-de-France regions. They also want to trace the originators. The preferred theory is that of a premeditated act against a backdrop of rivalries for control of a drug sales outlet. The fire in the Moulins district caused the death of seven members of the same family, who had no connection with drug trafficking. The suspects face life imprisonment.
