The two complaints for provoking anti-Semitic violence and hatred and public insults of an anti-Semitic nature targeting Guillaume Meurice were dismissed on April 11, according to a source close to the case, confirming information from France Inter. These complaints were filed on November 6, 2023 by the European Jewish Organization (EJO).
On October 29, 2023, in the show Le Grand Dimanche Soir on France Inter, the comedian described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “kind of a Nazi but without a foreskin”. The two OJE complaints gave rise to a preliminary investigation led by the Nanterre public prosecutor’s office, and entrusted to the Brigade for the Repression of Delinquency Against the Person (BRDP).
During this investigation, Sibyle Veil (CEO of Radio France), Charline Vanhoenacker (presenter of the show Le Grand Dimanche Soir on France Inter) and Guillaume Meurice were interviewed. The prosecutor indicates that the proceedings against Ms. Veil and Ms. Vanhoenacker are “impossible”, since Mr. Meurice writes his columns alone, and does not communicate them before the broadcasts. Jean-Pascal Oualid decided to dismiss the complaints on March 18 because he considers that “the offenses reported does not seem to “sufficiently characterized”.
