Thursday May 9, two police officers were injured in the 13th arrondissement police station by a man who had been arrested. Both officers are still hospitalized. The suspect, a 31-year-old man with no criminal record, was also hit.
Two police officers were rushed to hospital with serious gunshot wounds on the premises themselves of the police from the 13th arrondissement of Paris, Thursday May 9. It was 10:30 p.m. when a suspect managed to seize a civil servant’s service weapon. “The individual was required to undergo screening. He was uncuffed by one of his colleagues. At that point, he jumped on him, managed to grab his gun and shot him“, relates Reda Belhaj, spokesperson for the Unité SGP Police-Île-de-France union.
A suspect with no criminal record
A little earlier, the suspect had been arrested a few streets from the police station. He locked himself in the apartment of a septuagenarian before violently attacking her with a box cutter. She is alive. The suspect is 31 years old, is of French nationality and has no criminal record. Neighbors had seen him wandering around the building. The two police officers are still hospitalized, one of them is in critical condition. The alleged attacker, victim of return fire, is hospitalized in stable condition. Three investigations were opened to determine the exact circumstances of these shootings.
