The town hall of Anglet delivered the medal of the City and its thanks on Monday November 22 during a special ceremony, to the firefighters who intervened in the fire which destroyed approximately 100 hectares of pine and 65 hectares of residential areas from Domaine du Pignada, July 30, 2020.

Particular attention was paid to the Anglet firefighters, the first to intervene. The whole room rose to applaud them. “We are not used to being thanked like that. For us, it is routine work. It shows that we are not useless”, admits Lieutenant Emmanuel Immig, of the Anglet firefighters.
“All people are affected, we can see that it comes out of the heart”, adds Lieutenant Guy Cabillon, from the departmental fire and rescue service (SDIS) of Gers, in Auch.
In addition to the City’s medal awarded by the Mayor of Anglet Claude Olive, very moved during his speech, the ceremony was punctuated by two films produced by the municipality. One summarizes the intervention of these firefighters during the fire. Then the intervention of the Canadairs was told in a second video by Stéphan Le Bars, one of the pilots from Nîmes, based during the fire in Mérignac.
After the speeches and the applause, all these firefighters took advantage of a few moments to to really get to know, in peace, around a buffet.
