Colombia is delighted to have found four children safe and sound, rescued after spending 40 days in the Colombian jungle. They are now in a military hospital in Bogota, where their family and the president were able to go to their bedside.
Sitting on their hospital beds, they are still very weak, but out of danger. The children of the Colombian miracle are gradually finding a semblance of normal life. Aged 13 to one year old, these four siblings have become the symbol of an entire nation. They were found after spending 40 days in the Amazon jungle, the only survivors of their plane crash.
The skepticism of some residents
“We can really say it’s thanks to [l’aînée de la fratrie], thanks to her care, that her three little brothers were able to survive by her side. But it’s also thanks to his knowledge of the jungle”said Ivan Velasquez, the Colombian Defense Minister. On the evening of Saturday June 10, the Colombian president went to their bedside, welcomed with joy by the grandparents of the children.
In the streets of Bogota, some residents do not hide their skepticism about this story. “Isn’t this a smokescreen to hide what’s going on around the president?”asks a man.
