The second round of legislative elections will take place on Sunday 19 June. The 20 Hours presents, Friday, June 17, three possible scenarios for the results of this second round.

In the second round of the legislative elections which will take place on Sunday June 19, the presidential party, represented by the coalition Together!will reachto obtain an absolute majority? To achieve this, the presidential party must manage to elect 289 deputies. Nothing obvious for Emmanuel Macron if we are to believe the latest projections, which place the presidential majority between 265 and 305 seats.

To aim for the high range, the First minister Elizabeth Terminal targets in priority the one who can deprive it of a majority in the second round: Jean-Luc Mélenchon and his program, which she describes as “an all-out taxation project“. In the scenario of a relative majority, Emmanuel Macron would need to come to terms with other political parties, such as Les Républicains, to get his bills passed. Last possible scenario: cohabitation. It has already happened three times under the Fifth Republic, and it has been Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s ambition since his failure in the presidential election. To obtain it, the candidates of the Nudes win most of the duels that oppose them to the candidates macronists.
