The third French Civil Security plane which was due to land Thursday evening in Libya did not receive authorization to fly over Libyan territory, franceinfo learned on Friday September 15 from the French authorities. The plane was expected at Al Abrak air base, 30 km from Derna, the city most affected by the floods which ravaged the east of this North African country.

This plane brings material for the construction of the field hospital sent by France. French soldiers are also on board.

According to the head of the Civil Security detachment and the French embassy, ​​this delay is linked to an administrative problem due to the large number of requests from foreign countries which come to the aid of Libya. Second reason given: Friday is the equivalent in Libya of Sunday in France. This explains, according to the authorities, that the plane was unable to take off.

Two other planes, filled with freight, firefighters and Civil Security personnel, arrived in Al Abrak on Tuesday evening. Without the third plane, these doctors, logisticians, nurses, firefighters still cannot come to the aid of the Libyan population.
