On the evening of Wednesday January 10, a hotel in the city of Kharkiv (Ukraine) was targeted by two shots, leaving thirteen people injured. Anaïs Hanqueta journalist from France Télévisions, was present in this hotel with her team at the time of the strikes. “We were looking for our hotel rooms in the corridors. We were almost in front of our room doors when we heard a huge bombing. We found ourselves on the ground. I don’t know if that’s the effect of the explosion or if it’s a reflex”says Anaïs Hanquet from Kharkiv.

“We were really scared”

The journalist indicates that there was then a second bombing. “There, we were really very scared”she remembers. “We felt that this second bombing had directly hit the hotel, that it was much more powerful and that there was much more damage. We felt the establishment move”specifies Anaïs Hanquet. The journalist adds that the interpreter for the France Télévisions journalists was injured in the face. “We tried to get out of the hotel through a window, and that’s when the firefighters arrived”concludes Anaïs Hanquetindicating that she and her team then spent the night on the subway.
