“I will fight, I will not give up for my son.” Nahel’s mother called for a rally on Sunday, November 19 in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), a few days after the release of the police officer responsible for the fatal shooting of her son at the end of June. “Sunday November 19, come and support us at 3 p.m. on Place Nelson-Mandela, in Nanterre”she declares in a video transmitted by the Justice for Nahel collective Thursday evening to several media.

The death of the 17-year-old teenager, killed by police shooting following a refusal to comply, sparked a week of riots across France at the start of the summer. The 38-year-old civil servant, indicted for “intentional homicide”, had been in pre-trial detention since June 29. The courts on Wednesday ordered his release and placed him under judicial supervision.

The agent must “pay security” and is prohibited from entering into contact with witnesses and civil parties, “to appear in Nanterre” and of “hold a weapon”, according to the public prosecutor. For Nahel’s mother, it is a “real injustice”. “How can my son’s life have such little value for this justice?”she asks herself.
