The man who is suspected of having, on Thursday, strangled and sexually assaulted a 22-year-old jogger in Revel (Haute-Garonne), confessed during his police custody this Saturday to be the author of the attack, reports France Blue Occitanie.
The 24-year-old individual who still lives with his parents is known to the courts for an act of domestic violence in 2019, but not for acts of sexual violence.
He was arrested on Friday, his custody was extended by 24 hours on Saturday. He is being prosecuted for attempted homicide.
On Thursday, the young victim who was running along the greenway was strangled unconscious by the assailant who was riding a bicycle. He then dragged her into the bushes and sexually assaulted her. According to the Toulouse prosecutor’s office, the young woman had been helped by a woman walking her dog.
