After a long fight against cancer, the ex-journalist and boss of the Sun, Jacques Samson died overnight from Thursday to Friday in the palliative care unit of L’Enfant-Jésus hospital. He was 77 years old.

Born on December 24, 1944 in Thetford Mines, this great laughter before the Eternal — everyone remembers his thunderous laughter — began his career at Le Soleil in December 1972, when the daily’s offices were located on rue Saint- Vallier East. He had previously covered the news in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean and held a position at the radio and television station CKBL, affiliated with Radio-Canada.
