The fabulous story of the group Les BB, which rose to fame in the early 1990s, will be brought to the screen, we have learned The newspaper. The production of the film – or the TV series – was entrusted to filmmaker Alain DesRochers who knew the trio well having directed several of their music videos.
Producer Christian Larouche (Louis Cyr, Confessions) agreed a few days ago with the families of Patrick Bourgeois and François Jean, as well as with Alain Lapointe, to acquire the production rights for a work of fiction provisionally titled Why are you in the moon.
The idea is to produce a film on the group’s dazzling career but it could also be a TV series.
“It’s very exciting,” said Ludovick Bourgeois, the son of Patrick Bourgeois, the famous BB singer who died six years ago from cancer.

“Christian Larouche was super respectful in contacting everyone and involving us in this adventure. It’s going to be a big, beautiful project.”
Christian Larouche didn’t have to think long to find the right director to pilot this ambitious project. The filmmaker Alain DesRochers, with whom he had already worked for the biographical drama Gerry (on the life of Gerry Boulet) was the first name that came to mind.
“It’s very rare that I choose the director of a project before having found the screenwriter who will write it, but in this case, it was obvious,” says the producer and president of the Christal Films company. , which is also developing feature film projects on Diane Dufresne and Guy Lafleur.
“Alain knew the members of the group well and he has plenty of anecdotes to tell about them. His experience working with Les BB will be very valuable.”
“At 400 miles an hour”
Andre Viau / Le Journal de Montr
Alain DesRochers had the chance to rub shoulders with the members of the BB – Patrick Bourgeois, François Jean and Alain Lapointe – at the start of his career as a director, shooting the music videos for several of their best-known songs, including You are in the moon, She is snobbish And Alone in battle.
“It was a party every time!” says the filmmaker, who will also soon make a film on Boule Noire, with a laugh.
“Patrick was a very dynamic person, who pushed himself at 400 miles an hour all the time! The script is not yet written, but I already know that I want to make a film that will exude the joy of living. Because every time Les BB went to play somewhere, it was crazy!
“It’s a time [les années 1990] which will be fun to reproduce too. There was so much excitement. The popularity of BB was like “Beatlemania” on a smaller scale. They filled big rooms and girls ran after them everywhere they went.”
Even if the screenwriter has not yet been chosen, Christian Larouche hopes to have a first version of the script in hand within a year and to begin filming in 2026.
It is still too early to officially begin the search for the actor who will lend his features to the legendary singer Patrick Bourgeois. But the producer would like to see Ludovick Bourgeois try his luck.
“It would be extraordinary if he could do it but it would certainly be a big order for him. We’re going to audition him and we’ll see,” says Mr. Larouche.
TOMA ICZKOVITS
Ludovick Bourgeois shares the same opinion: there is no question of him skipping steps.
“I don’t want to impose myself on a field where I could break my face,” says the 30-year-old singer who will present a tribute show to his father’s group in 2024.
“Me, I just want the good of the film. And there are several other aspects of production that I can get involved with, like music. If I’m lucky enough to audition for the role and I’m interested in it at that point in my career, we’ll see. But I’m aware that it’s another job and that I have a lot to eat before thinking about doing that one day.”
