On the occasion of the three years of the death of Jeanne Moreau, Universal released a complete work of all the songs of the artist. Among the 200 titles in the box are new versions of his greatest hits, such as the unmistakable “Tourbillon de la vie”.

We knew each other, we recognized each other; we lost sight of each other, we lost sight of each other“, sang Jeanne Moreau on a title which you inevitably have the air in mind. This song tells in reality the tumultuous passion that the singer lived with the director Jean-Louis Richard. The cult title was written by Serge Rezvani, a friend of the couple, in 1956. “They broke up all the time, and they loved each other. They loved each other until the end of their days. This song is a way of saying to them ‘but why do you separate so easily since you love each other, and it always comes out the same way?‘”, he recalls.

It’s thanks to the film Jules and Jim by François Truffaut that the song will be a monumental success, six years after its creation, and will become one of the essential titles of French song. True incarnation of the new wave, the title will be released in 45 rpm and will sell a million copies. “The completely unexpected success of this song, it carried him. It affirmed her in her position as a free woman“, explains the author Jocelyne Sauvard, who is at the origin of the book Jeanne Moreau, the impertinent.
