In the absence of a buyer for the French clothing brand Bayard, in liquidation, its stores will close their doors next Saturday, indicates the company’s management in a message consulted by France Bleu Bourgogne on Wednesday October 2.
The Côte-d’Orienne brand, whose head office is in Quetigny (Côte-d’Or), near Dijon, will close its doors. A final hearing took place Tuesday before the Dijon commercial court. But the iconic ready-to-wear brand Bayard has failed to find a buyer. Bayard management posted the information of the permanent closure of its stores on its windows and on its website.
“We are writing these few lines with emotion to announce the definitive closure of Bayard on October 5”indicates the company. “For nearly 100 years, it is with pride and passion that we have supported you on a daily basis towards your natural elegance, whatever your body type.”
Bayard was known for having notably dressed Serge Gainsbourg, Claude François and Johnny Hallyday. 56 stores in France will close. Its turnover has plummeted in four years, going from 22 to 18 million euros. Bayard has around 150 employees throughout France.
