The Stockfish, the new Nice concert hall for contemporary music

The smallest of the big halls, that’s her motto!… She displays a capacity of 700 seatsas well as an ambitious and promising programme, provided by the Nice collective La Crème.

Nestled in the Maison de l’Etudiant in Nice, the Stockfish will host a series of varied concerts, from electro to hip-hop and Stand Up. It comes to fill a void, that of the absence of a current music room in the city center. “The installation of lights and sound have been the subject of particular care“explains Graig Monetti, youth deputy of the city of Nice. “It’s up to young people from Nice to take over this room” he confides again.

The inauguration took place on March 9 and 10 with the concert by Nice’s Jill is Lucky and a series of concerts the day before, notably with Breakbot and Irfane, known for having made the sound of the credits of the Grand Journal on Canal+ a few years ago. .

Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice and his deputy for young people, Graig Monetti, kicked off this place, the offer of which complements the already existing rooms (Nikaïa, Théatre de Verdure, Théatre Lino Ventura or Black Box) in the goal strengthen the cultural influence of Nice candidate to become European Capital of Culture 2028.

Meanwhile rock, electronic music, hip-hop or stand-up have found a new scene. All that’s left for Stockfish is to find the recipe for conquering its audience and for that you just have to take a look at the upcoming programming.
