The Service de police de Laval (SPL) is investigating a murder that occurred during the night of Saturday to Sunday on the sidewalk in front of the facade of Place Bell in Laval.
It was a call to 911 shortly before 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning that alerted emergency services to a man who was stabbed following an altercation that escalated on Claude-Gagné Street, near the Boulevard Le Corbusier.
“Our officers assisted a 51-year-old man. We are talking about serious stab wounds. He was transported to a hospital, but unfortunately his death was declared, ”said agent Érika Landry, spokesperson for the SPL.
The identity of the victim, who was injured in the upper body, has not been revealed, but the fifty-year-old was known to the police.
“The victim was known to the police, but for the moment we cannot say whether or not there was a link with his death. […] It is surely an element that the investigators will try to determine, ”said Agent Landry.
There were no arrests, but witnesses were to be interviewed by investigators.
A security perimeter has been erected in the area.
“Several personnel have been deployed, including investigators of crimes against the person and the Forensic Identification Section to establish the circumstances. We have no suspects and no arrests at this time,” added the SPL spokeswoman.
The SPL investigation continues.
