Agathe and Vincent Krempp farmers in Flagey-lès-Auxonne call for solidarity. Saturday, November 29, 2022 around 10:45 p.m. a neighbor calls them to report the fire in a hangar. Inside no less than 1,000 tons of hay and straw will go up in smoke. The building is destroyed, all their reserves wiped out.
This hay is used to feed the hundred cows on their farm, the straw is intended for litter during the winter. If for the moment the animals are still in the meadows and graze on the grass, in a fortnight they will have to come in and feed them, but now the stocks are empty.
Agathe Krempp, 35, about this call for help. “It’s simply to find out if people around us would be able to help us out. We are ready to buy hay and straw at a reasonable price.” A call that Agathe must launch “in the next few days” on the farm’s Facebook page
.
“A real trauma”
If there is ever a good time for this kind of miscellaneous event to happen “there the building was really as full as possible with high quality hay, alfalfa hay which was to serve us for the whole season” laments the young farmer. Agathe Krempp evokes “a real trauma” especially as in the matter “it’s my husband who does everything, we usually don’t buy anything outside”.
Agathe and Vincent Krempp are “breeder-breeders” all their animals – Aberdeen-Angus a Scottish breed – are bred and fattened on their organic farm. The meat produced in their “Ferme du Clos Simonin” is then sold directly in the store on their farm or via online shopping platforms such as “la Ruche qui dit oui” or at the “Drive Fermier” in Dijon.
The privileged criminal track
According to the breeder, the gendarmes favor the criminal track, in fact the fire broke out in a building open to the four winds, a hangar which is not connected to electricity, moreover that evening there there was no storm.
