You may have worried Tuesday about smelling smoke and burning near your home? After the Limousin, the Dordogne, Tours or even Orleans, it is the turn of the Yonne to be crossed by veils of smoke coming from fires in Gironde. Moreover, the sky over Yonne was yellow, “maronness” , as if covered with fog in places. This is another consequence of forest fires.
On the Météociel fine particle map, published by the Twitter account @Weather_89 yesterday, we can clearly see a corridor of smoke going from the Lot to the Ile de France, passing through the Yonne. According to our Météo France forecasters, the arrival of fresh air on the Atlantic coast redirects and pushes the smoke north. This phenomenon is also quite classic, we see it with the sand of the Sahara, sometimes found up to the top of the ski resorts in the Alps.
Following this alert, the SDIS of Yonne called on the inhabitants to “do not overload the emergency call line”. Call 18 only if you actually see flames or a fire starting.
