‘The Shining’ Star Shelley Duvall Dies at 75

The actress died in her sleep from complications related to her diabetes, her partner Dan Gilroy announced.

Shelley Duvall died in her sleep at her home in Blanco, Texas, in the southern United States. It was her partner, musician Dan Gilroy (leader of the Breakfast Club group in which Madonna began) who announced it: “My dear, sweet, wonderful life partner and friend has left us. Too much pain lately, now she is free. Fly away, beautiful Shelley“.

Unforgettable Wendy in Shining Alongside Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall also starred in Annie Hall by Woody Allen, but she was above all the favorite actress of Robert Altman with whom she made her film debut and shot seven films including Popeye (with Robin Williams) or even 3 Women (with Sissy Spacek and Janice Rule) for which she received the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1977.

Shelley Duvall had also worked with Terry Gilliam (Bandits, bandits), Tim Burton (Frankenweenie), Steven Soderbergh (On edge) but also Jane Campion (Portrait of a woman).
