The parliamentary group Les Indépendants – République et Territoires (Lirt) announced on Saturday, November 18, the suspension of senator Joël Guerriau, suspected of having drugged an MP without her knowledge. He was indicted on Friday. “Immediately, the Independents group in the Senate, which met today (Saturday), decided, in accordance with its statutes, the suspension of Senator Guerriau (…) and the initiation of a procedure disciplinary action which could lead to exclusion.declared the group in a press release sent to AFP.

Joël Guerriau, who has been in this group since its creation in 2017, was also suspended from his Horizons party on Saturday morning, following a Political Bureau of the movement led by former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe. The party will also begin “a disciplinary procedure which could lead to permanent exclusion”and announced that Edouard Philippe was going to call the complainant, Sandrine Josso (MoDem).

The Loire-Atlantique parliamentarian is suspected of having unwittingly drugged MP Sandrine Josso with a view to sexually assaulting her during an evening on Tuesday. “If proven, the facts mentioned are very serious and absolutely unacceptable. Horizons will never tolerate the slightest complacency with regard to sexual and gender-based violence”write the members of the Horizons political office, who announce the launch of“a disciplinary procedure which could lead to permanent exclusion”.

Joël Guerriau was indicted on Friday for “administering to a person, without their knowledge, a substance likely to impair their discernment or control of their actions, in order to commit rape or sexual assault” and “detention and use of substances classified as narcotics”, and placed under judicial supervision, with “obligation to follow treatment and prohibition of contact with the victim”.
