The new CEO of National Bank bought nearly half a million dollars in shares of the largest bank in Quebec in early December.

Laurent Ferreira bought 5,000 shares during the sessions of December 2 and 3. He paid a unit price of $ 96 to $ 97.

He officially became CEO of the National Bank at the beginning of November, following the departure of Louis Vachon.

An additional purchase recommendation has been added to the title of Nuvei this week after the release of the unflattering report prepared by a New York short seller. BMO’s James Fotheringham is now recommending the purchase of the stock in the Montreal provider of electronic payment solutions.

In his note published on Wednesday evening, this analyst points out that the securities in the sector in which Nuvei operates had all fallen by around 30% in the past month and that the additional 40% drop in Nuvei’s share on Wednesday is what l ‘encourages them to offer to purchase them. They are now 12 analysts out of 14 to suggest the purchase.

Scotia Capital presented Thursday the list of its best investment ideas for 2022. The only company headquartered in Quebec on this list of 28 stocks is Air Canada. The attraction stems in particular from the fact that the action of the Montreal air carrier remains down 40% compared to its price before the pandemic, but also from the fact that commercial aviation is called upon to benefit from demand with the increased vaccination rate and high savings level in the population.

The chairman of the board of directors of Stingray has just bought $ 1 million in shares of the Montreal music services provider. Mark Pathy bought a total of 137,600 shares in the first three trading days in December. He had also bought some in June, September and November.

H2O Innovation gained further support this week. Laurentian Bank Securities on Tuesday launched coverage of the activities of the Quebec-based company specializing in water treatment solutions, recommending the purchase of the stock. Troy Sun thus becomes the ninth analyst to officially follow the company. There are only purchase suggestions on the title.

Troy Sun points out in particular that H2O is benefiting from a backwash with the rise of responsible investment (environmental, social and governance criteria) which facilitates the expansion of assessment multiples. He also indicates that the sector is highly fragmented and that execution on the procurement side will be critical.

The Chief Financial Officer of BRP has just bought $ 200,000 in shares of the Valcourt recreational vehicle manufacturer. Sébastien Martel bought on December 3 a block of 2,100 shares at a unit price of $ 95.

The Chief Human Resources Officer of Saputo has just bought $ 100,000 in shares of the Montreal dairy processor. Gaétane Wagner bought on November 26 a block of 3,400 shares at a unit price of $ 29.40.

The Quebec titles of Couche-Tard, Rogers Sugar, Senvest and Uni-Select all hit a 52-week high in Toronto this week. In contrast, those of Cogeco, Nuvei, Quebecor, Boralex, Innergex, Haivision, Lassonde, Lightspeed, Xebec, Taiga and Hexo just hit a low in the last 52 weeks.

The founder of Knight Therapeutics just bought a little over $ 100,000 in shares of the Montreal pharmaceutical company. Jonathan Goodman bought a block of 20,200 shares in a registered account in his wife’s name on December 3.
