Moscow claims to continue its advance in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city located near the Russian border. The army claims the capture of several villages in this area on Sunday May 12.
An ambulance column walks the country roads near the Russian border. House by house, emergency services come to pick up residents to evacuate them. In a few bags, they take the essentials with them. Many Ukrainians are in shock, as the Kharkiv region has been the victim of incessant bombing since Friday May 10. Many elderly people were evacuated. “The bombing is constant. More than 4,000 people were evacuated
In the village of Vovchansk, near the Russian border, bombings left two people dead. According to the governor of the Kharkiv region, more than 4,000 people have been evacuated. Russian forces claim the capture of five villages. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky assures that Ukrainian troops carried out counterattacks. The Kharkiv region already suffered Russian occupation at the start of the war, until the withdrawal of troops in the fall of 2022.
