The Royal Bank expands the mandate of its head of legal affairs

(Toronto) The Royal Bank of Canada is expanding the role of its head of legal affairs Maria Douvas following the departure of its head of administration and strategy.


In an internal memo, RBC President and CEO Dave McKay announced that Mr.me Douvas will now be head of legal and administrative affairs, and will take on a broader role in shaping the bank’s future.

Mme Douvas joined RBC in 2016 and has since risen through the management ranks.

In addition to her current mandate, she will oversee corporate strategy, procurement, corporate real estate, climate and the main data office.

The move comes as RBC announced that Christoph Knoess, who was its head of administration and strategy, will leave the bank.

Before joining RBC in 2019, Mr. Knoess was a partner at the consulting firm McKinsey.
