If the revelations made by the American press on Monday May 2 are confirmed, abortion, legal in the United States for half a century, may no longer be a constitutionally guaranteed right. Each State would then become free to authorize it or not.

On the evening of Monday May 2, an earthquake shook the American media. The press obtained draft decisions of the Supreme Court. These documents reveal that she once held a vote in February to challenge abortion rights. Tuesday 3, at the foot of the Supreme Court, pro-abortion demonstrators let their dismay burst. “I’m terrified of what might happen“, laments a protester. Anti-abortion activists also came to the scene, full of hope.

I am so happy to be here, to potentially witness this reversal that we have been waiting for since 1973, and to break this jurisprudence“, confides one of them. If this vote is confirmed, at the end of June, 13 States which had initiated anti-abortion laws will be confirmed: abortion would then be immediately prohibited. They should also be followed by 13 other States Abortion would then become illegal in more than half of America.

If the Supreme Court was able to vote against this historic achievement of 1973, when a large majority of Americans support this right, it is because this court of nine wise men is fundamentally conservative. Donald Trump had indeed appointed three judges for life during his term.
