The return of Brasserie Mirabel and Cathcart

The pandemic was not easy for Le Cathcart, this food fair, a project of the A5 Hospitality group, which opened with great fanfare in January 2020, to close two months later.

If there was a short partial reopening of the counters the following summer, then that of the ephemeral restaurant Piazza Sociale in the vast Biergarten in the fall of 2020, it is only for a few months that the place, located in Place Ville Marie is slowly coming back to life with the reopening, which we hope will last this time, of the dining rooms.

The place currently has seven take-out counters where you can order on the go (Dirty Greens, Pizza Del Fornaio, Chikin, Omnivore, Patzzi …), a café by the Crew team and the Brasserie Mirabel, the only restaurant offering full service to tables.

It is the chef Nicholas Giambattisto (formerly of Caffe Un Po’Di Piu, and who also worked for several years within the Joe Beef group) who is now executive chef of Cathcart and imagined the new menu of Mirabel, with his sub -Chief Kai Borst.

Whoever has Italian blood on the paternal side likes to work on the traditional food of this country, made in the “rules of the art”, and offers a menu with a high degree of comfort, very satisfying and well executed: Caesar salad, soup minestrone, carbonara pasta and an excellent burrata with rapini, gremolata of filberts and roasted tomatoes, among others.

Despite his Italian bent, the chef prefers to describe the place as “Montreal”, which allows him not to have to limit himself to one cuisine. “And there are a lot of Italians in Montreal! He laughs.

If the Mirabel first tried to open in the evening, the main clientele of the place being mainly employees of Place Ville Marie, the brewery has adopted a daytime schedule for a few weeks, like the rest of the CathCart, that is to say Monday to Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (some counters remain open later in the evening on Thursdays and Fridays).

P. -S. : Thursday aperitifs are also back in the Biergarten, with a DJ on the decks.
