Philippe de Gaulle was the last witness to the Gaullian legend. The general’s first son died at the age of 102 on Wednesday March 13. A fighter for Free France from 1940, liberator of Paris, then enlisted in the Navy for 35 years, Philippe de Gaulle had his own story. However, he always placed himself in his father’s shadow. For two years, Admiral de Gaulle had been a resident of Les Invalides in Paris.
Emmanuel Macron’s tribute
