The RCT has a new revenge to take in the Challenge Cup. Defeated last month at the Vélodrome in the final against Lyon, the Toulonnais will again participate next season “in the small European Cup”. The men of Franck Azéma and Pierre Mignoni already know the names of their future opponents in the group stage. The draw took place this Tuesday Dublinin Ireland, where the final will be played.
No South African club for the RCT
The future campaign is marked by the participation of several South African teams, as will also be the case in the Champions Cup. However, the Varois will not rub shoulders with it, at least in the group stage, since in their group they will be opposed to the Italians of Parma and the English of Bath.
Among the other French clubs : Brive will face the Irish of Connacht and the Welsh of Cardiff, Perpignan will face the Scots of Glasgow and the English of Bristol, Pau will meet the Welsh Dragons and the South Africans of the Cheetahs, the Bloemfontein franchise. Bayonne will challenge the Welsh Scarlets and the Londoners Wasps while Stade Français have inherited the Italians Benetton Treviso and the South Africans the Lions, based in Johannesburg.
First pool game in December
Back and forth confrontations will be played between December 9 and January 22, 2023. At the end of these four days, the top six from each group – as well as the 9th and 10th from the Champions Cup – will meet for the final stages. The final in Dublin is scheduled for Friday 19 May 2023.
