Over time, the path or chemin des Anglais becomes the prestigious promenade, the villas are razed, replaced by Palaces like the most prestigious of them: the Negresco and which receives the greats of this world, the Emperor of Japan, Grace Kelly, Jean Cocteau, Guitry, Dali, and much later Mickaël Jackson.
But the real stars of the Promenade des Anglais are the blue chairs of designer Charles Tordo, metal, coated with sky blue polyester lacquer. On these chairs, almost armchairs, the people of Nice have been contemplating the French Riviera for more than 75 years. A few rare fadas, who have stayed under the sun for too long, throw the blue chairs on the promenade into the sea. Who knows why?
7 kilometers long, famous all over the world, the Promenade des Anglais in Nice has always been a dream. Numbers of poets and singers have paid homage to him like the rocker Dick Rivers, from Nice. Nice, the Promenade des Anglais, the sea, the blue chairs, the Negresco, the Rotonde brasserie, small black olives, a pissaladière, it’s high time to go there this summer.
