the “pride” of the first French women’s bobsleigh team of “being able to write the history of sport” in Beijing

“A little girl’s dream”. This is how Margot Boch, 22, sums up her state of mind this Friday, February 4, at the opening of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics in Le Quart d’Heure from franceinfo, a few days after his arrival in China.

The young Frenchwoman, originally from La Plagne, in Savoie, is one of two French women competing for the first time at the Olympic Games in the women’s bobsleigh events, which will begin on February 13. She will participate in the “monobob” events as well as the two-man bobsleigh races with her partner Carla Sénéchal, 25 years old.

It’s a little girl’s dream since I competed, confides the Savoyard. It’s the culmination of several years of work and it feels good to know that hard work pays off. OWe are super proud to be able to write the history of our sport, for our country and we are very proud to put women’s bobsleigh on an international scale for France“.

“Several people have done bobsleigh in my familysays Margot Boch. My grandfather used to do road bobsledding. My aunt, my father and my godfather also made ‘bob'”. Especially since the bobsleigh is a relatively confidential sport in France, “I was born in La Plagne, which is the only resort where there is a ‘bob’ track in France. We inevitably hear about it”.

It is also Margot’s family who have contributed to offer a bobsleigh to the duo. So when the bobeuse learned “that our families would not be present, it was a little hardshe says. But above all, we said to ourselves that we were lucky to be able to participate in it..

So what objective for the French duo? “A medal is a bit too early” judge Margot Boch, who explains that the bobsleigh “requires a lot of experience and hours of downhill. We’re still young in our sport. Above all, I want to have fun.”
