The government has put in place a shield so that the price of rents does not increase by more than 3.5% in one year. This increase, which is part of a context of inflation, worries.
Throughout France, rents could increase by a maximum of 3.5% in one year. This increase could have exceeded 5% without the government shield which will affect 14 million tenants. “That’s 30 euros over 12 months. That’s 360 euros, almost 400 euros. For my part, I think that 3.5 is already huge“, notes Rémi Dubien, retired tenant. The rents can be revised once a year, on the anniversary date of the lease. For a rent of 600 euros, an increase of 3.5% would represent 252 euros more per year.
Landlord representatives are not considering a rent freeze. “You can’t imagine rents going down, locked in, and can’t keep up with inflation, when even landlords suffer inflation“, explains Pierre Hautus, director general of the national union of property owners (UNPI). The government will increase the APL by 3.5% on 1er July, even if this aid had been reduced during the previous five-year term.
