Since the health crisis, four-day week experiments have multiplied in Europe. In France, more and more employees are asking for it. Its supporters, employees or business leaders, believe that its implementation increases worker satisfaction, as well as productivity. Report in Lyon in a company of 80 employees which has been operating this way for almost a year.

Wednesday is a day off for Valérie Brunet. Last year, the manager switched to a four-day week. She does not regret this new operation. “It allows me to have more distance, to review the priorities of our life (…). I discussed it again with my children. They appreciate the fact of being able to spend more time with me, me too, to be able to better accompany them since they are 4 and 9 years old”, she says. In his company, three quarters of employees now work 32 hours instead of 35 hours per week. The days have been extended by half an hour, which is taken during the lunch break.

“We have to integrate this fifth day somewhere into our four days on a daily basis, so it allows us to better structure the work, to be more efficient and at the same time we can have new missions precisely because we have acquired this skill of working better and more efficiently”, believes Matthieu Capel, director and staff representative. Abdénour Ainséba, president and founder of IT Partner, does not see an explosion in the activity of his company, but a more qualitative production. The boss assures that this improves well-being at work.
